I recently inquired with a recruiter about a dedicated position that they we're offering from Orangeburg, SC to Cove City, NC but I was 10 miles or so outside of the hiring area as I'm in Columbia, SC. I gave the OTR thing some thought over the past week and I've done a lot of research and following on the internet about Maverick the company. I decided to submit an online application last night after I sent the recruiter I spoke with earlier last week an email letting her know what my intentions were and just had a couple of general questions about orientation, time out with trainer, pay, etc.
The recruiter was in a meeting when I tried to call her before submitting the application but her voicemail said that she was in a meeting so I wasn't expecting a call back immediately so I went on ahead and filled out the application. Upon completion of the online application I received an email from the recruiting department with a phone number that said go ahead and call us. Tried to call even thought it was roughly 6:30 their time and wasn't able to get anyone. Left a voicemail with the recruiting department letting them know that I spoke with said recruiter last week and had tried her direct line unsuccessfully before submitting the application online. As of right now it's about 5:35 eastern time and I still haven't heard a peep from them. Just wondering if this is normal of should I continue to try to call until I get someone in the recruiting department? Any information anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any info in advance.
BTW, I received my class A CDL just over a year ago from Prime INC. and decided to take a local Monday-Friday job back home where I was home every night but since then the company has changed management and the workload has became unbearable and I've watched several good guys walk off of a once decent job. No flatbed experience and no more OTR experience other than what I had with my trainer at Prime for about 3 weeks just to get the required hours to test out. Any pointers that any of you veteran guys/gals could give that would help me moving forward are also most appreciated. Thanks again everyone! -
You only have 3 weeks of behind the wheel training? When was the last time you used your cl?

Sneakerfix .... thanks for the reply. I use it everyday. I currently drive for a Budweiser distributor here in Columbia, SC.

It's not out of the norm to not get anyone to answer the recruiting phone. They are always busy. They do return calls, it's not always the same day. Sometimes it's a couple days later.

How is Maverick as a company? I live 15 miles from their Madison IL terminal and I was refered to them from here.
Im 21 yrs old, 9 mo exp.
Im looking for a company that treats their drivers right, so APU's are a very nice thing to have.
Uh... Im really looking for something a bit laid back. I dont wanna take only a 10 hour break. I always was able to take 12-16 hours of a break at night at Swift/Central while never being late while making 2500 miles a week. -
I drove for them over 11 years ago. They treated me 10 times better than Schneider and no one lied to me there. Flatbedding is very difficult, so take that into consideration if you are interested. Also, consider my experience was a long time ago, they may have changed.Sneakerfix Thanks this. -
Well, I can do glass or their reefer division. Anything really... though I am scrawny so im no sure if I can do flatbed haha

You don't have to load the trucks, you just have to do the load securement and tarping. You don't have to be a bodybuilder.Sneakerfix Thanks this. -
Dont need to be strong to tarp and secure the load with teh chains and stuff? Hmm.
Alright well that sounds cool ^_^
I cant wait to hear from them then. I hear good things. The only thing is, how hard do they force their drivers to run.
I dont care about forced dispatch as ETA/PTA is what controls the dispatchs, just how much time is given on a load and stuff.
