    Not necessarily.

It's not fair to compare someone who at least attempts to do that the right way by doing it at a traffic light on a divided highway with shoulders to the knucklehead in that video.

What do you do if you're heading south on US-13 in Laurel DE, and you have to drop a pallet at Mid-Lantic Machinery which is on the northbound side, while having to continue southbound afterwards?

    That was me today. ;)

Assuming you were completely parked and not driving, that second accident had nothing to do with you, and should not be on your record unless someone screwed something up in a report.

That video always makes me cringe... The horrible part is that he *might* have cleared that bridge if he was loaded heavy. I'd have backed up some, there looks to be just enough space off to the left to make that u-turn work.

As for u-turns, there are shippers and receivers that I cannot get into, or out of, without making u-turns.

The alternative to doing a u-turn is not good either. It usually means backing into their facility. And because most of the places I deliver to are malls, that is probably the worst idea.

It's your truck, you're at the helm. Drive it how you want as long as you're not tearing stuff up or putting folks in danger.

But a properly executed u-turn is a good thing in my book.

As for the OP, you shouldn't need to list non-preventable crashes. But don't omit it if they ask. This may be bad advice, but if they ask generically without specifying preventable or non-preventable, then you may want to ask.

In the event that someone did screw up and mark that on your record, it will be easier to explain if they already know about it.

I always hear this but, it's not a fact. "If he was loaded it might have not happen"

Let's think this through. Trailer has air ride.. Air ride has sensor.. Sensor has valve.. Valve has a leveler... Called leveler valve which is set to a certain level. The more you load the trailer the more air the valve let's into the bags.( hence why every time a forklift goes in and out you hear the trailer hissing.. Someone with facts enlighten me.

    Accidents, or incidents.

    I'd wouldn't list either one...............

There is a good reason I put the *might* in there. It's debatable, and I sure as hell wouldn't risk it just FYI, as to if he would've made it under the bridge. But I'll also admit that if this were a debate, then I would NOT stand on the side of he should've just gone under.

"I thought I could make it" is not a valid reason under any circumstances.

But hey, learn something new every day. :D I knew air-ride was meant to cushion the load as it travelled, but hadn't thought about the hissing being the trailer leveling itself out.

There is a reason why I put "might" too I the reply. But yeah you're right I wouldn't try it. There is a bridge in Denver that is 13'6 and I've been under it hundreds of times and I still duck when I get to it hahhahah

When I was in orientation at sni, there's a rather low bridge that we go under. The trucks have about 2 inches of clearance because we come out on an incline.

Was with another trainer that day and just after we passed the clearance sign he "sign checked" me by acting like we were gonna hit the bridge.

He got a good laugh out of my reaction to his panic, but at least admitted that I was watching the signs.

He still scared the crap outta me though... I find it funny now, but at that time I thought it would've been funnier to watch him pick his teeth up off the floor.......
