You mean like nearly every clutch ever installed in a motor vehicle? Even in a car you only need to depress a clutch partially to disengage it. When you depress it you can feel it go over center if the linkage/hydraulics are adjusted or bled and working correctly. Same for a truck. The difference is a truck has a clutch brake to stop the larger mass of its clutch so you can get it in gear while stopped.

Hang in there you'll get it.Slightly means depress the clutch only an inch not all the way to the floor.

To add to Packrat's statement, if you push the clutch pedal to the floor with the transmission in gear while the truck is moving, the device that was only intended stop stop the rotation of internal transmission components so you can get it in gear is now trying to stop the whole truck.

That kills cluch brakes in a BIG hurry.

A Semi clutch is a dual function lever.

Short to medium press disengages/engages the gear, full press stops the gears for engaging at full stop.

Best complaint I ever got from a driver was him asking me if I could change the clutch brake in his truck as the gears would grind when he went to shift. Epic facepalm moment.

Leave your heel on the floor and just clutch it with a slight bend of the ankle. It doesn't need much. I'm currently in school now and went through the same being that I've had manuels all my life.
