Had the same runaway issue with my Knight Prostar at 50,000 miles. They said they had never heard of that happening.

We had leased a 2013 Prostar last year for 6 months to pull a new trailer we bought just to see how it would work out.

I had heard all of the horror stories and yes, I believe they are true, but bottom line is, we had only one small issue in 6 months time and it took nothing more than getting it into Navistar dealer and having them reboot ECM.

With that said, I liked the "truck" fine, the engine never did run as well as I would have liked, always seemed low on pulling power, and running the lower RPM's that they want you to took some getting used to.

As stated this was a lease truck with about 350,000 on it and we put about 13,000 a month on it.

International could have saved themselves a lot of headache and gone with DEF. Their EGR only approach to EPA 2010 looked good on paper but not so good in practice. EGR creates soot and lots of it and where does that soot go? Into the DPF. That put the Maxxforce into a near constant state of regeneration. Didn't do itself any favors that way.

Currently at the Rush International in Statesville, NC trying to get a "simple" a/c problem resolved. Tractor was at Rush Cincinnati, OH for a full week... last week, and they could not resolve the problem.

    #### glad this is a company truck, it's cost me enough as it is.

    Good luck driver!

So the Maxxforce had only EGR and no aftertreatment device in the exhaust? I guess its no wonder the couldn't meet the emission standards.

EGR is like the silent engine killer. I've taken apart a lot of Isuzu's with cracked pistons due to EGR valve failure and carbon buildup.

No DEF or SCR. Just a DPF. No doubt fleet owners who looked at the short term savings at the pump were singing a different tune with the long term costs of downtime ;)

Yep. Drove one. Had extended warranty from International (It better). So no out of pocket cost for repair but the owner was losing more money from down time because of EGR/DPF/Turbo problems almost every other month. LITERALLY almost every other month the truck would go to the shop (which took forever) for at the very least 3 weeks at a time.

    #### that ####! You should turn that #### in immediately.

You should have done your research first. I'm so sorry that you purchased that truck.

Question : Did the salesman touch you in your special place?

Did he put anything in your bum?

Because if he didn't then at least you only got #### in every way except LITERALLY.

####. Jump on the class action bro. ####ing jump on that #### hard as #### homie, because your in for one hell of a ride.

Or, mabey you got one of the 12% of those trucks that doesnt have a design flaw. Mabey.

    lots of character Thanks this.
