    Anybody got one they want to sell? 1000 or 5000. Really just need the mag-mount. I've got enough antennas.......Thanks

    If you can't find a Wilson mag mount the road pro mag base will work ok. The package says designed for up to 36" antenna but. I used the mount with a 10" shaft Wilson 2000 this weekend on the roof of my equinox 1100 mile trip. No problem with highway speeds or branches down in the hollow. It stayed right in place. .

    Thank you for that info. I may just go with a Sirio if I can't find a Wilson. There have been several on here that bought the Wilson mag-mount so I thought I might find a used one somebody was willing to part with.

    I have a abundance of Wilson antennas, just need a mag mount. If I was fresh out of antennas, I would buy the Sirio for sure.

    I got a K30 mag mount by K40 on ebay for $30 + free shipping. Swr 1:1.1 with a little trimming. Excellent results from this antenna.

    Question re: 1000 vs 5000. The main difference is power handling capabilities. I know the 5000 has better coax, though not a big deal for most applications. Right Channel radios says that the 5000 can handle extreme icy conditions better because of the floating coil. My pamphlet for the 1000 says it also has the floating coil design for minimal dielectric losses. Are they both equally capable in this respect?

    I've run both and can't tell any difference. I've never put over about 300 watts thru either antenna so no problems with that capability either.

    The smaller one is soldered together internally.
    The larger one is screwed together internally.
    Less chance for internal breakage with the larger one. Both coils are open air floating coils.
