Buy him a large scale regional map of your preferred area. Tell him if he can't find the origin and destination points on it, they don't exist.

-
Thinking of going to BTC I live in Columbia SC how do you think ill run anyone? I don't really want to run north east I mentioned to the recruiter but they just basically said they run eastern half so its possible. But I will choose to be home weekly so its only so far I could go....@brsims

I only went to nyc 1 time. Upstate ny is not bad I enjoyed the ride I think they hauled aluminum from there.I also got to run california on the thomas and betts acct.so if you like to run you can make good money .though I didnt make it home on the weekend if I went west it was my choice..I was not forced.
-
I gotcha and just to verify this was with builders transportation out of memphis correct? How was home time and how often did you get home like a friday to mon? Or....also how was the pay?
-
It is different I think depending on your experience. I have not drove for them in years so I am not sure maybe a currant driver can help you with that but as I said home every friday unless I wanted to stay out good company to work for....you get out what you put in... you do run nj and ny, MOSTLY UP STATE I BELIEVE. not nyc only went there one time for them.

Very rare freight into NYC for us, and I don't do NYC. Since I'm a Great Lakes/NE regional driver, I do see New England more than I want to (I NEVER want to).
Hometime is what you make of it. I'm fighting to keep my Out of Route miles down, so I don't get home every weekend anymore. Freight currently doesn't pay well enough to justify the added expense of running 100-150 miles out of route, and we have very, very few loads that run past my house on Fridays. To let you know, I live in North West PA, south of Erie but north of I-80.
Pay is based on experience. Mileage starts at (I think!) 0.47/mi, percentage starts at 27% of freight revenue. If you are planning on running regional and hitting the house every week, I recommend percentage. Mileage, in my opinion, only pays if you choose to stay out for two or more weeks at a time.Txwaterboy Thanks this. -
