If you do mounts with the rear seal, I'd also suggest a pan gasket. Just my opinion :)

S60 pans do like to leak. Just make sure they use silicone on then seal lines. A lot of mom and pa shops dont do this and they leak again

It doesn't hurt to get new bolts either. The rubber inserts do get deformed, which reduces clamping force.

I'm guessing your rear structure has fretted and allowing oil past the sealing surface....seemed to be common on the S60.

At this point we're hoping it's just a seal and not a crack somewhere in the rear. We're hoping to let the mechanic look at it this Friday and see what we can do to eliminate some of this leaking. Will update

Well, today we had the mechanic take the trans out. Turns out, the bell housing has a small leak as well as the rear main, BUT they were not the major causes of the big leak. The last mechanic, who I'll never let touch any of my equipment again, messed up the gasket on the back of the valve cover! Once my new mechanic got the trans out and cranked the motor he could see the entire back portion of the gasket hanging out the valve cover in the back. Also, the last mechanic left a headlamp back there. Maybe I'll get a discount on the work...

So hopefully he can get everything back together tomorrow with new seals and gaskets, etc.

I cringe when I'm at the shops. I'm usually dirtier than the mechanic when the job is done, and completely dissatisfied I didn't do it myself from the git.
