Left lane ticket on I-65 in Indiana

I run 65 every week. Yep, signs everywhere. Slow down, driver. Speed limit on I65 in IN is 65. Take the ticket and learn the lesson.

I am gonna assume you were given a DOT inspection aswell.

Yeah - fight it.

 

Yup, that was for the folks camping in the left lane.

 

Hoosier Bears are all over that "no left lane" mandate. Consider it an expensive lesson...

 

There is no reasonable defense to present to the judge. You will be wasting time and effort in order to stand before the judge and basically tell him: I know that there are signs posted every 2 miles indicating that trucks are prohibited in the left lane, but, you see, I am special and should not need to drive 2 or 3 miles per hour under the speed limit in order to abide by the law. When the judge gets finished laughing, you'll pay the ticket and some court costs, since in Indiana, the court will assess fees related to the court's time and it varies from county to county.

 

The bears must be too busy on 65 north of Indy to bother with the drivers acting foolish through the construction south of Indy.

 

I agree with that conclusion - I've been through Indy several times in the past month and was somewhat aghast at the driving habits south of Indy. At no times was I ever tempted to jump into the far left lane up on 65, though.

 

I'm not a fan of the left lane restrictions.

I pay 100% of my taxes.

I should get to use 100% of the road.

 

I guess thats what all the guys hanging out in the middle lane are thinking.
