You can take your CDL test anytime. A formal education, community college, Truck driving school, none of that is required to test, or receive your CDL.
-
All these schools tell me I need to come there and spend $3,100 to 7,200
-
Often the Community Colleges will have grants?
-
So do you think I need to go back or study more and hit the DMV?
-
It is advised to get educated before you drive a CMV, but paying a school for that education is not required. All you need is the booklet from the DOT/DMV and pass the written test for your probationary license and then learn how to drive and operate the vehicle. Take/pass your driving test.
Many of us driving never had a formal school setting education. You might have a hard time finding OTR employment with out the formal education but it is not required by the states or the feds.
Different era to start driving today. Good luck. -
Do you have a CDL now?
If not, just get the CDL permit at the DMV then Millis Transfer in Eden, NC will hire you and put you through their training for $500.00 up front and the rest you work it out by driving.
Drivers say they make over $50K there.Last edited: Sep 9, 2015
