Dang I wish Ida stopped there. Sounds tasty. I've been making a ton of organic peanut butter sammiches on whole grain bread with a side of fruit...#### I hate tryin to get healthy. NOT the job for it. Seems to be working tho.
It's been a while since I've been on here glad to see all y'all doin well... Good luck to the new cats! Like it was previously stated...they're here for ya!
Think I'm gonna take the plunge and buy me a truck. Was helping a guy out runnin roll paper around the Midwest and after doin that the last six weeks it turns out I'm lovin it! Home every Friday night, thru the house once or twice a week, money has been spot on, and he's got more loads than he knows what to do with. Decent backhauls, and the other o/o's in the small company are runnin 3k plus miles a week. I've been running a 2000 freight shaker classic xl...asked the owner if he'd sell it to me and he's amenable. The price is right, the truck is tight, and I think I might! (Yeah that just happened).
Stay safe out there, good luck, and god bless!HeWhoMustNotBeNamed, HometimeQueen and Panhandle flash Thank this. -
It's good to hear from you scott! I know that being able to get home to see that beautiful little girl of yours is a real blessing. Good thoughts and best wishes for every success being sent your way!

Was great having George home for nearly a week. Not the best of circumstances, though. My dad passed away early September 5. I was the first to find out while George & I were away for a night at one of my daughters' house visiting. It is sad, Dad will be missed, but he's no longer suffering. Dementia is an awful disease. It took a perfectly healthy, active man and caused him to become basically a vegetable. We don't know his precise weight, when he died, but he probably weighed less than 100 pounds. Surprisingly, for now, Mom is taking it well.

I am so sorry about your dad, jungHo, but glad that George was able to spend this time at home with you. Prayers for you both and your family.

Would anyone recommend TA for a recent CDL grad, or are there better companies out there?

I think everyone is going to have a different opinion on this one, Bubba15. No one company is going to suit every new driver, there are many pros and cons to consider. I will tell you a few of the things that we marked on the pro side.
Guaranteed home time. If they offer you a job then they will be able to get you home. There are a few tips for putting in for home time that will help in getting your requested time off but for the most part, there are very few problems getting your home time approved......other than the last half of May and Christmas.
You will run legally. They are on elogs. There are ways to save your clock and protect your time even on elogs.
If you feel that the driving conditions are too hazardous or you are not safe to be driving, all you have to do is tell them. The only question they will ask is if you have an approximate time that you will be able to move again.
They are a training company .....a place to learn and gain experience so that you can move on. Their trucks are nicely equipped and comfortable.
Those things were a priority for us, they may not be for someone else. There are, of course, some things on the other side of the column.
You will spend many hours waiting .....at meat plants, at WalMart DC's, etc.
You will do swaps....sometimes several in a row. That is one way that they are able to guarantee home time for other drivers and on time delivery to their customers. New drivers sometimes have not learned good trip planning....it takes time to learn....having the capability to relay the load and get it there on time keeps the customer happy.
I hope this helps a little, Bubba15. I don't know what your priorities are ...if you need regular home time, etc.. Basically, we have all said before, that TransAm was as good a place as any to start. Our continuing creed has been - DO NOT LEASE, stay company ......learn at their expense.....get your experience and move on.jdmredneck33 and Bubba15 Thank this. -
Just so some of you know .....when your better half is trying to maintain that connection with you and sends you sweet messages .....this is what not to do!
