I've worked for megas and a 12 truck outfit. I'd rather work for megas. The small outfit I was with is barely surviving.

I started out with the mega and smaller company as well.. The smaller company ATM is better with time off request and home every weekend. Pay is better too.. I'm been with smaller company 1.4 years now and looking for advancement soon I will see how that go

Anything is possible.Far as what you'll be getting paid it more then likely won't be much different then what a mega company would pay but you'll probably get a lot of miles, very little sitting and a fast trk probably no elogs.

IMO big companies treat you like #### anyways since you're just a number to them. If you've got a good feeling about working for this guy, give it a shot. Worst case scenario it doesn't work out and you go work for someone else.

I was a company driver for 8 years, all at the same small company. I couldn't imagine ever working for a mega. My time there was very enjoyable. We had weekends off unless we wanted to work. There was a board on the wall where you wrote down when you needed time off. Never once did I have to reschedule a personal appointment. I had no intentions of leaving but sometimes you need a change in life. I say ride it out. As long as he's not screwing you out of money the worst that will happen is you'll have to find another job.

I was told when I first started driving by an old timer 'Small is better in this industry" and from what I've seen and been through I agree...

It's nice when I call dispatch and they refer to me by my name not 'what's your truck number?"

I've never worked for a mega but I have friends that do. They spend 3 weeks out and 2 days home. They pretty much Hate it but they made the decision. I've been with one small company growing slowly. The pay is good, company apparel, company credit card and a top notch mechanic. My net pay is almost triple what my friends make and I'm home every weekend and sometimes everyday. My vote goes out to the smaller fleets
