Don't worry about that half cent. You'll never know it.

Well I wouldn't say you'll never have to drive at night. But you can pretty well avoid it with a little planning. Hell everybody knows trucks are solar powered and shut off at dark right? CT is set up to be home weekends. However some drivers like to run through the weekend and CT tries to accommodate them. Now you need to understand that being off on the weekend does NOT mean you'll be home EVERY Friday at 3pm. I get home on Friday morning or Friday night or sometimes Saturday evening. Either way your entitled to 2 days off. And getting home Friday is the norm.

Sometimes you do have to drive in the middle of the night. Its nothing for me to start at 3, 4, or 5am. Or do a split 8/2 sleeper to deliver on time. I get home most every weekend even for a reset. 34-36 hours minimum. I worked this weekend. Missed 5 days due to a death in the family. Gotta make it up somehow. I got 2700 miles in the last 5 days going over the weekend. Too bad 1300 is going on last weeks paycheck (Thurs-Sat). And I got 51 hours in. The next couple of days I gotta ease up or I will run out before I recap on Friday.

It's just driver preference and what you like. I don't do splits. Only 10's for me. No way in hell I'm starting my day in the middle of the night. I rarely start before 7:00am. But I'm a night owl so I don't go to bed until around 1:00am. But you just have to find what works for you.

I usually get home Fridays around 6pm. Then leave back out around noon Sunday. Some people wait and leave Monday but I like money too much for that.
