Yeah, absolutely I'd take their offer... and tell them where to stick it.
Tell em to call JB Hunt. No such thing as a back haul, bounce load, go home load etc.....
If I NEED to go home, by God I'll put 'er in the wind. If I need to be home I surely don't want some receiver standing in my way.

There is a place like that with lightweight paper cup loads that comes out of Horse Cave, KY. Don't ever haul anything cheap out of there or you will regret it for sure. And make sure you have good terms spelled out for detention on your confirmation. Or you will regret it. And the delays will only get worse when you get to the receiver. Typical 3 letter worthless brokerages shilling them. For me that's a hefty surcharge just because in and of itself. I know they sucker a lot of carriers on those loads though making off like bandits themselves. I'm sure the way conditions are now they're really raking it in.
double yellow and Cottonmouth85 Thank this. -
Oh them. They are just as bad as ####roaches.

I think the mega's pay better than that, although not by much.truckon Thanks this.

I believe a big problem in this industry is L/O that turn into O/Os, their use to running for pennies on the dollar. And think .90 cpm is a good rate. -
I never got that CPM thing I hate to say. Is that factoring in all the costs for operating an O/O truck or just quote over miles?
-
Why would anyone do it for that rate? You'd cut out delays and potential headaches on both ends if you bounced out.
Cetane+, Ougigoug and Cottonmouth85 Thank this. -
Its a mystery.
-
I believe an idiot would do it. Mystery solved.Cetane+ Thanks this.

It depends on your business plan and the route you run. If you run to Jersey three times a week from NC, and grab one of those 2 out of three times, that's $45,000 a year that your bypassing. That would be pretty dumb IMO. Heck, that's almost what you'd pay a driver to do the work for you.brian991219 Thanks this.

It's not a mystery. It's the buck a mile mentality. Or people not knowing their costs. Or people trying to make their payments while not setting anything aside for wages or maintenance.
Cottonmouth85 Thanks this.
