Do you think the government should get rid of pre trip and post trip? The other morning I watched about 10 drivers just pull off. Do you think it should be up to the driver? Myself I do a pre and post trip. Next time you in a truck stop, just observe. Not many people are doing it.

nothing engine wise like oil etc can be checked basically more cosmetic. I always pre trip but my post trip consists of the walk into the truck stop until I get back.

It's a point I make to my trainees - just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean it's a good idea. This morning during the pump down we started hearing a little air leak. Figured a glad hand seal, turned out to be a brake chamber.

We were in Dalton, GA heading to Nashville. No pretrip means going thru Chattanooga and Mt Eagle with bad brakes. Not something I would recommend.

Things like this happen once twice a year. But when they happen you #### well better catch it.

There is NO requirement by law for a Pre Trip. Period, no discussion. The ONLY "trip" that must be done is a Post Trip.

Probably why you posted saying " I watched about 10 drivers pull off"

    Read your FMCSA guide book....

I don't do post trip myself. But due to personal experiences, I'm all for the pre trip. People aren't always nice while you're asleep.
I'm all for it not going against your drive time tho

Pre trips are a thing that nobody is sitting there counting your 10 and then waiting at your door to ask you if you're going to do a pre trip.

The point of a pre trip is more for YOUR own safety than it is for anybody else's. Could you Imagine pulling out of your spot and the trailer just falls down. Have fun explaining that one to anyone.

there is more drivers in this industry that halfarse pre trips such as walk around the truck holding their coffee and a bag of snacks( you've seen them) and those that don't do a pre trip than the ones who actually take the time to do it.

A post trip is a simpe walk around just check your tires and lights so you don't have to deal with it in the morning.

You do NOT, by law, FMCSA, whatever have to log "Pre Trip" in your log book. But you better #### well make sure before you leave that you are safe.

    Again. NO PRETRIP

YOU PARK- LOG YOUR POST TRIP.

If you would read the FMCSA guide book you would know that a "Pre trip" is not required on your logs. Only a "Post Trip".

Social Media and and Interwebz Lawyers nowadays...

And I bet anything that y'all that have "called" me out on this are the same ones that believe any ole county cop can "LEGALLY" ask to see your log book.
