Just wanted to say hi and thanks for all the tips, tricks and comedy on this site! (Been lurking for some time)

Just got my CDL and I'm looking for a good place to start...again, left the glamorous life of a sales associate to try and actually make a living! See you all on the road!

Many good companies to get started with. Don't fall for the "CDL school job placement" because you can do better just by asking questions on this forum. Where is your location?

I was born & raised in Tennessee so you're my former neighbor. I jumped ship and moved to Las Vegas a couple years ago.
Tons of good companies hire Kentucky drivers. Do you have any preferences as to what type of trucking?
I'll give you some ideas to ponder over.
Lots of good coast to coast outfits if you want to see the country.

No preferences though I don't have endorsements, looking to go OTR to get some experience.

    western express
    r.e. west
    big g
china knows lots more im sure.
personally usa truck treated me good lots dont like them but i had a good dm there. if you go there try for fleet 46 i always got home when they said i would and got good miles. they pay was ok for new drivers from what some of them told me.
    also try
    u.s. xpress
    PTL
    ozark
    snieder
you know just to get started. being with a trainer is rough, i went though 2 of them. once you get experience you can move on to better but the first 6 months to a year is the worst. i had to drive in new york city with western express and that was no fun but it does get better with time and other companies dont have forced dispatch to new york city.
if you can get through the trainer and the first 6 months to a year you will be ok. good luck

Hey, I love running coast to coast and always have.

Navajo Express - probably attend orientation in Jackson, TN
    Abilene Motor Express
Waggoners Trucking - hires from some accredited schools.
Dynamic Transit - recently started hiring new CDL grads.
    Freymiller
    Magnum Ltd.
    Jim Palmer Trucking - .40 cpm + .05 cpm bonus = .45 cpm
Decker Truck Line - reefer division
    Earl Henderson Trucking =.38 cpm

Submit several applications then choose the one you like best.

Several drivers have posted they make good money with USA Truck. The company gets bashed a lot on here, but that's usually due to the condition of the trailers. That could be due to drivers not writing up discrepancies and just leaving the problems to the next driver.

thats true. but all companies will have a crappy trailer somewhere. just so happened i was unlucky enough to find that one. but the company did treat me well. be careful and dont get injured on a bad trailer. call in and get it fixed . its better to lose a little money than to be seriously injured. i learned that the hard way
