Depends on the shop. You need to figure out exactly what will be done in a PM service as many shops consider a PM to be a different thing. For some, a PM may just be an oil change and a fuel filter. Another shop might go over every little thing on the truck. Lots of times services such as adjusting the clutch, replacing the water filter, greasing, checking wheel bearing free play, checking to see if SCAs need to be added to the coolant, etc., may not be included in some shops "in and out" oil and filter change BS that they call a full PM service.
Tell me about it. I'm assuming hes leasing, and part of being a lease-op is being responsible for the maintenance of the truck so you need to know your truck and know exactly what service will be performed. A good local shop will generally not screw you as bad as the dealer shops might, but make sure they are familiar with and have the tools to work on a newer truck. This is stuff that a lot of new lease-ops don't get a handle on and then wonder why they are sitting on the side of the road broke down because something hasn't been greased in the past 100k miles and bound up or the coolant finally managed to eat its way through the cylinder liners because "well the coolant level was good so I thought I was OK".FatDaddy, PoleCrusher and HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thank this. -
I didn't realize i was asking a stupid question. Yes I'm new to this, no i did not do a lease purchase. I bought by truck traditionally. I know there's a lot to learn, that's why I'm asking. I want to work hard to do everything i need to do to limit breakdowns.FatDaddy Thanks this.

It wasn't a stupid question, just unusual and surprising. Better to ask than assume and be surprised later on. Don't be offended please, I'm sure that wasn't intended by anyone.
TruckDuo Thanks this. -
Not having the most basic knowledge of running a truck and going out and buying one is a bad sign.
Now try and find a good shop close to your house that can be trusted not to rip you off or do shoddy work. And yes an oil change can be screwed up and cost you thousands.
Ask around and see who people in your area take there trucks to.Pork Chop Express Thanks this. -
Like i said, i was confused about the PM deal because I read something that confused me.
I know about the basics of a truck, being doing this many years, but as a company guy. Never really thought about the PM's to much before.FatDaddy and HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thank this. -
What did you read that was confusing? Genuinely curious...not looking to flame.PoleCrusher Thanks this.
