Again i read something that confused. It made it sound like an oil change was involved in the PM. That caught me off guard. Maybe it was something the shop was offering as a deal with the PM.
Good lord i didn't realize thid question would cause such a stir. This is exactly why i keep my CB off. -
It does include a oil an filter change.
Most drivers today when you here them say I'm getting a pm this is what their talking a bout. I have an intermediate service done as well which is pretty much just a greese job and fluid check ie rear end fluids.
Years ago we had A B and C pm's (service) on a truck there were several things done at different intervals
How old or new is your truck and what is itHeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thanks this. -
Hmmm. I simply asked what you read out of genuine curiosity. You never did answer
-
He may have read a PM A or a PM B which SNI used to do on company trucks (not sure if they do now or not been a long time since I was company).
In an instance like that one includes oil one doesnt.
I agree it's better to ask than to assume and be ripped off.
Also he's correct there are a bunch of Seasoned Aholes on here who act as if they never ask any questions or make a mistake or simply think they're perfect and gods gift to this industry.
I'm sorry some think they're to good to answer a simple question.
Of course those seem to be the ones who also don't think SNI will take advantage of them either.
But what do I know I'm just a major Ahole.scottlav46 and FatDaddy Thank this. -
The replies you got were a result of HOW you asked your question. Some were harsh and not helpful, others were harsh and helpful.
The way I read your question gave me the sense that you went.out and bought a truck with no real idea of what is involved or how to be a L/O, IC, or O/O.
A better way to ask would have been along the lines of "I was just told/read xyz. I didn't think that was true, any opinions?"
Or "what do you expect a shop to do on a pm for $x?
Or "my manual says to do this but I've always done something else"
We get an awful lot of 'drivers' who don't understand the basics yet who start down the O/O path. Like the poor schmuck last night who was being taught why it's important to look at the weight when booking a load. Or the guy I helped this morning who has been driving for over a year but doesn't understand the HOS or QHOS software. He always let his co-driver take care of everything. He was a company driver but the parallel to a new IC is there. You had always just let the company handle maintence and never really figured out what's involved.
I'm really no better than you on that. I have NO ####ING CLUE on the proper way to maintain a truck. I know the wrong way, but I don't know the best way. Hence why I'm still a company schlub.scottlav46, TennMan, PoleCrusher and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yep, I am a dummy...
But at least I know what a joke looks like.Repete86 Thanks this. -
So everybody else is a self righteous jerk huh?
Let us all bow before your holiness, teach us oh great master... Let us learn how to be as humble as you. -
I've seen a lot of this on this board & a lot of snide remarks when someone asks a question. Not sure why. But I've also seen some very helpful people here as well. We need more of them & less of the others.scottlav46, FatDaddy and bigcove Thank this.

Some companies don't change the oil every pm. A lot do it every other. Some engine manufacturers recommend 60k on oil with synthetic
