Along with Mr Spyder's comments, there are companies that only hire teams, because someone has to watch the load at all times ($$$$$). There are companies that transport major electronics displays or go on some sort of tour for 6 months at a time. You can make stupid money running team, but it won't be sitting at distribution centers or fooling with Dollar General. Thing is, you're going to have to be spotless to get your foot in the door. They will pay you both for what you offer, not for how many miles you can run in a week.

I would if the gig was worth it; Like running explosives and ammunition for Landstar. (AA&E)

Need mechanical sense, financial sense, determination, integrity, and of course common sense,,,, + much more lol. But personally I think the team truck lifestyle would be a drag on life. I wouldn't do it for basic mileage pay that's for sure.

Now, another thing to look into is; running "super single". ---On a self-dispatch system like Landstar/ Mercer etc ,Running super single would allow one of you to run a full 500 mile day, deliver, will the other drives 150-300 miles to be in position to pick up the next freight the following morning. Then when that following morning comes the other driver will have a full clock and can service the load; and both drivers will be fairly rested. And there's other cool ways u could manage freight by having 2 drivers without having to go fully Team non-stop.

I'd say the either of you should get some open deck training and consider a path pulling a flat or step as a team. That's where a super solo would really come into play. Since you both share the household the income would be perfect and I think you'll enjoy having most weekends off doing open deck and y'all could do more social things that I hear married couples do that team. Good luck.

Ty all for ur responses, we've decided o/o wouldn't be for us, but teams sounds amazing. As for flatbed or step, my father did that for the last 15 years of his career, I think it depends on a lot of things, what were carrying, tieing down, tarping, fun stuff like that. My husband is doing van, and we will probly be sticking to that considering flatbed drivers with swift only get paid $0.01 more, and dnt get paid for time to tarp and tie down.

Does anyone have any information about produce?

Ah Don't let anyone confuse you. Im an owner op... nothing to it.. buy a truck.. lease on to one of many companies out there that charge 10% of gross and start making money.

New trucks have bigger payments but supposedly less breakdowns..
Personally I could have gotten brand new but I chose to get a well taken care of 2007 Pete 387 with about 900k on a Cat 15 475 on a 13 Spd E/F tranny... All for a whopping 25k lol Paid in full...

I set aside a grand a month for maintenance since it is used but man its a CAT and a Pete and I had records for the last 400k miles so it was well cared for... Thus far I have in about a year's time put in about hmmm 5 Grand in repairs spread out over 13 months.. so honestly.. thats nothing compared to what I'm making and I don't even run hard..

Just don't be afraid and dive into it.. you have everything to gain and nothing to lose and my personal advice.... leave the shiny new trucks to the established companies.. stick with a good taken care of used one and you'll live much easier I promise.
