Currently the director of SDIA is on vacation till Monday. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to provide inaccurate information but rather interpret what I received from sodrel directly. I plan on speaking with the school directly to see the full details. 60k initially is great. But i need tonread the fine lines.. Insurance is also top priority.. With another baby on the way next year. I don't want to put my self in a bind etc. However I appreciate your feedback. Im still going to write down and research all local companies.

Last I knew john Mayberry was the man to talk to at Sodrel regarding employment.

I was where you are about 6 mos. ago... Married, kids, wanting to drive but needing to be home everyday, so I just wanted to share what I found to be the best pathway to getting there...

Thanks. I appreciate that. Where are you currently employed? Could you give me an insight on the path you took. Be very helpful to see what others have done in my same position. It's a big change, but I'm really looking at getting out if corporate America and be my own boss later. Hopefully sooner then later lol.

Save your money and go to a vocational /tech school
Cost is a fraction of those "schools" only $1250 in Tennessee for a 3 month course
And you will actually learn something about a truck and driving a truck

And keep in mind ,,, ANY COMPANY THAT FINANCES YOUR SCHOOL WILL REQUIRE YOU WORK FOR THEM FOR A YEAR OR SO,, if you quit,, you OWE THEM!!
Don't do that ,, pay for your own schooling ,, go work wherever YOU choose

That is true for many companies that offer you training.. However prviate schools have the no contract feature.. they just recommend certain companies for tuition reimbursement.. However if you don't go down that route, they set up monthly payments to them directly.

That trucking company training would probably sound pretty good to many unemployed people that would love to have a job.
"We're going to train you for a job and demand you work for us the next 12 months." I wonder how many of the millions of unemployed even know about this.

I read your post with interest as I'm enrolling in school in Massachusetts. I continue to get informed on how to find a local job as a CDL grad in December. A key factor for me is balancing that with family. Would be great to hear what you're finding.

I've found Sodrel a local company being associated with a CDL school. However, the tuition is $5000 cash or $6000 financed and taken out each check.. It's about $400 a month(paid in one 1year and 3 months). To expensive, I found a local school accredited with the state at $3500 cash. In regards to local, I've found very little companies that require no experience or offer training.. But looking at craigslist, there is so many openings.. I feel it would be crazy to not consider someone if there applying and have a good employment track record. Let me know how it goes over there.

Thanks. Here in Mass., I'm finding similar outlook with nearly all opportunities requiring driving experience. Schneider has a 3-week training program for recent CDL grads at their facility in PA, from which can lead to new-driver jobs in my area requiring 4 days on the road. The search continues for a situation where I can be home daily as a new driver in Massachusetts.
