Hey guys- freight broker here. What are some things that brokers do that really piss you off? I feel like check calls are the most annoying aspect of my job, and I know that drivers absolutely hate us constantly calling to check in. Trust me ...we hate it too.


Anything else that brokers do that should be fixed?

 

How about a driver's seat that doubles as a toilet? Maybe 11 hours worth of flushes... keeping in mind that some meals require 2-5 flushes...

If you can get that done you'd be more popular than Crapper.

 

I take a picture of the BOL with my phone and save it. Then I use Myfax.com to fax the picture to whomever. Couldn't be easier. I don't find Myfax expensive.

 

How about a way to eliminate all the data entry work of entering invoice amounts into accounting software? Talk about non value added work. Ugggh.

If we all used an accounting software that was compatible with each other, we could simply e-mail the ACTUAL invoices and statements to each other instead of emailing a stupid useless PDF PICTURE of the invoice. Then we all have to pay a data entry clerk to enter it into each other's accounting software. Largest waste of time ever.

Does anyone retype a letter and save it onto their hard drive? NO! They just download and save the attached word file.

 

I wish they'd make the BOL layouts a little easier for those that can't read.

Every time I make a pickup and delivery it's like pulling teeth to get everyone involved to correctly full out the paperwork. Guards don't want to sign anything, or notate seal intact. Receiving clerks will stamp my bol, but won't fill out the stamp lines asking for name date, Yada yada.

For most pickups and deliveries I have to fill everything out and then right refused to sign and notify broker.
