I mean you get the general jist of it... been a truck nut for as long as I can remember and it's about time I join the club. I'm likely going to bypass the school route and see if I can do it on my own. I have a few options on some on the road training so I'm just going to see how it goes I don't have anything to lose and so much to gain

Hello guys just wanted to update I actually got my Class A CDL learner's permit this morning and I'm really excited. Big huge massive thanks to this website and the practice tests =D Anyways I was wondering if anyone has an idea of the next step I should take. My plan is to start pounding the pavement and seeing what small local gigs I can possibly find for training. Any suggestions?

See if your local community collegcollege has a course. I attend one and it's less than $900 and is 8 weeks long. Tons of drive time and maneuver practice. You're going to pay $3000-$6000 for a 3 week school with no drive time.Badmon Thanks this.

Where is your location;city/state?
Maybe someone on this forum lives near your city and can help. -

You're in a good place for most types of trucking.
CTL Transportation will pay for school, then hire you. This is a hazmat/tanker company. Almost all hazmat/tanker outfits haul out of Savannah, so you'll go thru Atlanta very often. Do a year with them, then you'll be qualified for the big bucks with other companies.Badmon Thanks this. -
