$2000 a month to a bank for a truck that will yield the same issues when it is paid off?? Or $1000 a month in repairs to a paid off truck, which shouldn't have major issues for a while after you get through these issues? Plus, with your current truck, you know what you have, who's been taking care of it, if the oils have been changed regularly.....
I'd keep what you have, but then again I'm just a company drivercodyschmidt Thanks this. -
Also, warranty doesn't cover lost revenue, does it? Think of that when you're sitting at the Pete dealer driver lounge for two days waiting for them to put a band aid on a major problem, which no one know how to really fix
-
I appreciate all the input.....I have not made up my mind totally on the different truck.
I am just getting frustrated with all the repairs the current truck is throwing at me..It seems like the truck waited to be paid for and then start to give up on me..
I go down the road wondering what is going to quit working next on it, and with some kind of warranty I might not have to think about that.
Nothing is set about getting the other truck, just tossing the idea around in the brain and wondering what if -
That is true, however I have lost revenue now with some of the repairs

I had a 93 KW that I went through all of this about 15 years ago.
Just kept fixing it.
Then one day I woke up and realized " gee, I've had this thing paid for for a while and haven't dumped a nickel into for 2 years"
Eventually, you'll get er whipped into shape........The_Great_Corn, Grijon, Diesel Dave and 7 others Thank this. -
If you choose to turn over the maintenance to someone else, which is fine, you have no business running older units. And buying one with the best miles used up, the Pete in your example is a bad choice, you just get back on the fix it merry go round with a different dealer.
If you run enough miles, say 120k-140k annually, you can justify a new truck and trade it at 550-600k, just like the megas. Your truck will have o-o specs making a trade in easy for the dealer to sell.
The biggest reason a lot of us no longer buy new is we don't want to do the 10-12 k every month and the pressures of a $3000 payment each snd every monthTruckDuo Thanks this. -
I vote keep the 'ol girl. Unless the body is just ragged beyond repair. Alot of what you mentioned is regular wear and tear.
If I were in your shoes and I just HAD to drive something newer, I'd shop for a glider kit. These DEF burners suck.
I understand as they get older it seems as though they break every time you look at them. I had a '98 379 I put blood, sweat and tears into and later sold. Sitting behind the wheel of this '12 KW I realize that was the biggest mistake I ever made.
Anyhow, that's just my .02The_Great_Corn, Grijon, Straight Stacks and 4 others Thank this. -
I really didn't look at it like I was "fixing", but upgrading. The 475Cat became 625. The RTLO18913A became a RTLO22918B. The 3 core rad became the biggest rad you could fit under the hood. Factory seats gave way to aftermarket. Buy the truck you want, build the truck of your dreams.Grijon, ramblingman, TaylorMade407 and 6 others Thank this.
