I pull a B train with straw into southern BC now. On my route is one average 8% climb loaded and then the private road into the receiver is gravel with a 15% section. I DO NOT use the jakes on the gravel, tried that once and only once. The worst part is the climb out of the receiver empty. No weight on the drives and that gravel road. Gotta hit that at least in 7th or 8th gear, diffs locked/interlocked and traction control OFF. Miss a gear climbing out and the thought of backing that B train back down the mountain scares me too much to try.
The nice thing about the setup I drive is there are enough axles to spread the braking out when needed. I only gross about 95k loaded so not too bad for hills.
