So I'm planning on getting into the flatbed aspect of the trucking industry. Ive looked at many different companies and Melton seems to stick out for me. They are a smaller company and promise a good pay such as .43 cpm starting out with under a year of experience along with a good tarp pay of $40 regardless of tarp size.

Are there any Melton drivers that can back up what Melton actually says? Do you make good money? What are your average miles? When you want home time, are they quick to get you there? How are the DM's.

All experiences and knowledge is appreciated!

They have beautiful equipment. I see their trucks a lot.
I don't work with them but I've heard good things. Drivers are treated right, home weekends if I'm not mistaken. I could be wrong about that.
One thing that most seem to get hung up on with Melton are the drive cams. Up to you whether that bothers you or not.

The whole camera thing doesn't bother me. I have nothing to hide.

Check out McElroy Trucking instead. Better starter Flatbed company, better pay, and home weekends (you aren't w/Melton-Out two weeks, home 2 days). Good luck.

Home time isn't too much of a concern to me since i don't have a family. But when i do want to take my home time i would like it not to be a week after the requested dates.

I heard a lot of good about melton and the only downside is the driver cam. I'm starting orientation with them in a month. The driver cam I'm going to use as a learning tool to keep me from doing dumb #### as I Learn

Don't look at the cpm none of that will matter if your not rolling..

The Tarp pay is higher because you'll be throwing 3 tarps and not two. Also I wouldn't call them a small company and Starting out with any company you won't be getting high miles they need to figure you out to see how you run.

I wouldn't consider a company that has 1,000+ drivers small by any means, but I suppose that's relative.

Pay is decent for a starter in flatbed. I've never liked working for mileage pay, but it's what the majority of the industry offers. The drivercam is a downside for most, if it doesn't bother you don't sweat it. Some trucks are automatics, majority are 10-speeds.

"Quick to getting you home..." well that depends on where you live. I'd highly recommend using their Recruiter Chat feature on their website. They can give you a definitive answer depending on how much you'd like to trust the person on the other end of the internet.
