If you survive school, and end up with a shiny new CDL, you may want to call Zimmerman Truck Lines in Mifflintown PA. (Probably a long shot, but you never know until you ask) They seem to have good equipment, and treat their drivers well. They run all over, but they claim to get you home most weekends. If I desired to go OTR, I'd definitely look at them.

Covenant is probably teams, but the money is pretty good with teams there.
If you don't want teams, go with TransAm.

If you don't want Roadmaster, then go with Earl Henderson Trucking and their CDL school.

Another thing..... Maybe look for a local community college in your area for schooling. It'll cost some cash, but you'd be better off in the long run

Well, last I checked, Harrisburg Community College was charging around 5500. Obviously you're a little ways away from Hbg, but that should give you an idea

What's their reason for not recommending TransAm? Did they say?
Sure the money isn't too good, but it gets you out of school a few weeks earlier. You'll have a CDL in hand, so you can jump ship any time you want once you're working. Then go with the company you really want; one of those you've been researching.

    You need a backup plan.
"I can't afford to stay in school another 3 or 4 weeks, so I'll take one of these companies the school is pushing so I can start making money and experience more quickly, then I'll jump ship to the company I really want in a couple of months."

$8000.00 is way too much. That's just crazy!
Community colleges are cheap; maybe a couple thousand dollars or less.
Jbond posted Sage; yes, they have a good reputation and probably much cheaper than Roadmaster.
