The citation will almost assuredly be "disobeying a traffic control device" same as running a stop light etc etc.. it will effect your CSA score in the unsafe driving category and of course lighten your wallet quite a bit.

as i remember it, back in the days i ran from MA to Newburgh, NY or MA to Elizabeth, NJ, (where the Greenwich scale is located on I-95, N.B.) it was a $435. fine.
you disobeyed a traffic control device. or actually devices, as it is well lite up before you get to the scale...
you have to surmise, that yes, points are assessed.icsheeple Thanks this. -
the CT troopers that are DOT, have had a habit of being at the bottom of the exit prior to the scale house on I-95 in CT, and on I-84 as well, to help facilitate those drivers in getting tickets for being on that exit, when there was no proof of thier reason for being there.
same as in RI at the CT/RI state line, when the portable scales in RI are open just before exit 5. -
We would like to know if we are assisting a fellow driver who made an honest mistake or one who was riding dirty and tried to blow the scale.icsheeple, G.Anthony, Mudguppy and 1 other person Thank this.

That scale going from NY to CT is HUGE opens 530 am everyday for future reference
-
yep, many a nights, i'd just get up past there by 5 AM. and those were the late nights.
-
my gps even tells me the scale is ahead
Cw5110, BeN DaViS and Straight Stacks Thank this. -
I dunno, I took exit 2 on I-84 in CT when I passed the 'open' sign. The trucks were backed up on the side almost on to the highway. I heard on the CB that the scale was closed, and I saw trucks bypassing behind me. So I turned out of the line and continued down the exit, through the traffic light and onto the on-ramp, then back on I-84. No chase cars waiting, and never heard a thing about it.
That would have been a minimum 20 minute delay waiting to cross the scales. Can that be considered interfering with interstate commerce?BeN DaViS Thanks this. -
HHMMmmm...not sure, but i'd have to say no.
the only scales i would blow by when they were open were on I-95 in VA, near the Dumfries area.>???
the trcuks would be lined up on the shoulder, and when the shoulder got narrow, they would be in the right lane. no way wsa i going to stop, and continued going south.
i am surprised the CT troopers were not at the exit. -
You guys are incredible. This is why the industry is going down the tubes. A man asked a question. Doesn't matter what you think. If you don't have an answer then move on & don't even post. No one cares that you don't like the idea someone made a mistake & he doesn't need your crap. We know most of you don't make mistakes & the rest of us human truckers are trying to be perfect like you, but sometimes we fall short.
To the OP, call your home state. They decide what goes on your license. At least that's how it works in Oklahoma.Raiderfanatic, Badmon, NavigatorWife and 4 others Thank this.
