Did I **** up my career permanently?

So my boss calls me in Wednesday and tells me another driver slip seated into my truck and took it upon himself to look inside my "get home" bag. Among the items in there besides extra clothes, munchies and first aid kit was box of ammo I had bought while on a run and forgotten to take out plus my 30+ year old AF issue survival knife and official issue AF survival guide. Except for the ammo, all part of DHS's recommended "Make a kit, have a plan". But in bosses words, "It disturbed them." So now I'm out of a job and the company next door that I immediately applied to called me back and when I told them the circumstances, they said they couldn't hire me for at least 4-6 months. They also said this is not a hard and fast policy industry wide; depends on the carrier.

My question: can this be put on DAC for every company to see? Should I forget the trucking industry for good? Been with the company ten years with a 1 million mile award. Had a crunchy now and then but no tickets or preventable accidents since I started. Advice is appreciated. Thanks.
