There is actually places it's rare but there is places with stupid policies.

There isms receiver in Colorado first time I got there a day early and got charged 300$ for an early delivery dealt with the broker for a month before I saw any money back.

Next time I showed up on time and had to wait because they were backed up so I charged them gotta love trucking... Not

A few months back I got one of my drivers calling me at 2am telling me that the company he arrived at is sending a "fine" to the carrier for an early arrival. I called the carrier and ask them what the hell is going on. The night dispatcher called me back after talking to the broker and told me it is going to cost me $700 because he arrived four hours early so I said to the dispatcher one of two things will happen, one is I don't pay the fine and have the driver go back to the shipper with everything on the truck or you talk to the broker tell them eat the costs and we will forget this ever happened - I left it up to her and told her she has 30 seconds to decide, after 35 seconds I hung up on her, called the driver back and told him to take the load back to the shipper when he gets the hours back and have them unload it, I will deal with this crap in the morning. I got five frantic vms from the dispatcher and I finally called her back 20 minutes after the last message and she said I wasn't allowed to tell my driver to take it back and I told her in kind words that were not used in polit company what she can do with that idea. I told her I have the option to pull the load any time if there is an issue, and because she couldn't make a decision, I did just that. The next morning I called up my fleet manager and told them I will be terminating my contract unless I get an appolgy for the bs I went through and told him my driver is going to be back at the shipper at 3pm with the load because he arrived early and was "fined". Then I told him I've got more important things to do and hung up. About an hour later I got a lengthy email from him which included an email from the broker eating all the costs, so I replied telling them that they will send a confirmation to the truck to take the load on the truck back to the consignee and pay for it as a new load plus the time it costs me to deal with it and the original load is to be paid. The load went back, not a word about a fine was ever mentioned and the driver was happy for the amount he was paid.

That's a good one charging them because they can't respect their schedule.

If it's good for them it is good for you too!!!

Imagine what our industry would look like if people where not putting up with any of that non sense!!!

I am really happy that i don't have to put up with that anymore!!!

I think it's the way it's supposed to be!!!

After all that's their freight they should be happy that the freight is there and in shape if they can't take it just tell the drivers sorry we cannot unload you before the appointment.

    I do LTL.
What are these appointments of which you driver speak?

    I DO NOT make appointments.
They take the freight or refuse it, and provide a reason with a signature.

If its in the contract, the receiver should not accept. Walmart and Sam's Club would never accept anything more than 1hr before appointment.

Those fines are common and just a scam to cut the shipping costs. You run into that a lot hauling produce when the receiver downgrades the quality of the product then agrees to take it anyway for a huge discount. There's nothing wrong with the product, it's just a way for the receiver to steal.
