Frankly I'm just telling the truth I don't even think think most heavy haul would consider 130k all that heavy. When you are a govt employee you make #### money that is the bottom line with it you get a pension benefits and paid vacation, sick and personal time. All stuff not widely found in the trucking industry. Plus it's where I got my license so I was getting my feet wet. I don't expect anyone to hand me anything but instead of remembering when you were wet behind the ears and passing along knowledge you act like you have never made a mistake in your life that just makes you a d******* supertrucker and nothing more.

1), Apps have the potential to create problems with virus. I need to use the phone its a business. (I'm not a free thinker)
2) Electronics added to my truck can create a "gremlin"; Truck engines on board computer. Transmissions on board computer. Gremlins occur by power & ground connections...increasing the number of electronics on systems that are vibration tested for million miles...with something that is off the shelf cheap n easy to install. I need to use the Truck its a business. (I'm not a free thinker)
We come together independently. Minority point: we don't need to work together. -
Not sure what to tell you Rookie. I pass on all the info I can. Tell all about the mistakes I've made so others can benefit. I guess you haven't been around here long enough to know that. Do a search if you think I'm full of it.
BTW, 130K is a legal load in my parts. If that makes me a supertrucker in your eyes, oh well.
BOL to you.Last edited: Oct 3, 2015

Heavy haul is a lot more than just being heavy. You were the one complaining about slow shippers and receivers, and Mr Rank told you to charge accordingly. Was he passing along knowledge? You mentioned something getting together and trying to get sweeping change in the industry. Mr Rank tells you that you fight for your own rights. So why is he a Supertrucker and nothing more?
I had a driver call me greedy. I was in the office and my travel agent is trying to sell me on a load. She gives me the specs and the money and I tell her that the money was decent, but the tarp pay was atrocious. She replied that it was a legal load and their going rate for a truckload to be tarped was $150. I told her that my rate was $250/tarp. She tells me that I will never get that, and I inform her that she will never see me tarp unless I do. Would you believe that a driver listening told me that I was greedy? Greedy? My time is valuable to me.
It's funny though. I may only tarp 4-5 times a year, but I can tell when they really want me to take a load, because it starts out at $500 to tarp a legal load. I got $1600 to tarp a big load that required 4 tarps. It took all day, but they paid my rate.
Did Mr Rank withhold knowledge from you? No he didn't. There will be no sweeping change, no drivers coming together going on strike because we as drivers do not get the same deal. I started out as a doorslammer when I went OTR. It didn't take me long to realize that the whole grocery warehouse thing BLOWS! But for some reason, only your grocery guys get the poop treatment. No one else in the industry gets crapped on more than you guys.
Got to that FoodLion warehouse in Lakeland,FL. Had a couple pallets of cooking oil. Waited 48 hours to get unloaded. Friday afternoon, they tell me to come back Monday. I called the travel agent and raised sin. She was spineless. I told her that I was bringing the load back, and this cow started threatening me. 500 mile bounce back to the house and cleaned out the truck. Got a call at the house, the travel agent's husband calls me up asking what I was doing, then asks if I would consider coming back to drive for them. Nope. I'm done.
My current gig, I don't have that problem. When I was a company schmuck, when I got stuck waiting for a load, they'd pay me $250/day detention. I'll take it! As an owner OP, detention goes from $1000-2000/ day depending on the customer. Got stuck on a project in northern Alberta for 2 weeks. Got $14000 for sitting in a motel.
Do you know the difference between a s lut and a call girl? One of them gets paid. I don't do freebies. No finance, no romance. You owe Mr Rank an apology. -
Thanks six.
That's what I was trying to tell him....the more experienced drivers don't have detention problems. They've all fought those battles long ago.
That tarp story is so true. I remember I had one of those Morooka dump truck things one time. Legal load.....we agreed on the line haul.....I'll just throw out a number because I can't remember....say $2500. Then the broker says "...and they want it tarped." I'm like "You want me to tarp a dump truck? All those corners and edges are going to wreck my tarps unless I edge protect everything." Plus it's just plain stupid to tarp a dump truck in my mind. If most of these customers had to tarp themselves, they wouldn't do it. So anyway, I threw out a number like $1000 and she called me greedy. She wanted to pay $150 LOL. Sorry. Ain't happening. -
I'm a company driver with a small company. Jut today I was asked to download a tracker. I personally don't have a problem with it. Especially if it makes everyone a tad bit less stressed. I sure as hell do not want phone calls. Haha

Seems kind of pointless, all the ELDs I've seen have that function built in.
