We had a load moved for JB HUNT. It was a one pick up, two drops load. When the driver arrived at the first delivery location, he was partially unloaded, then the customer loaded more stuff into the truck. The product that was added was also going to the second delivery location as well.
We contacted the JB HUNT broker and he is refusing to pay a single cent for the extra product that was loaded at the first delivery location.
JB HUNT shady practice?

dont move untill you have extra p/up load money
T_Bone Thanks this. -
Was a corrected BOL provided for the extra product? Probably not if the broker was unaware of this chicanery.
If not, then I would pull it right back off. -
I bet my post will not be most popular here, but have your dispatch figure out the problem, or maybe it was noted on rate confirmation. Either way i would not loose half a day and good name, over stupid argument. It's not always fair, just finish the load and don't work with that rep again. There is at least one bad rep in any good company. Just don't loose your cool and stay positive. This is trucking business and no one ever said it will be easy and fair...
Night Prowler and pattyj Thank this. -
Fair or not, why should anyone haul freight for free just because they have other freight on board that just happens to be going to the same place?dog-c Thanks this.
-
I am not defending the broker, I'm just saying what would I do. And of course, no one should haul anything for free. I get all my rate confirmations at the time of dispatch, so most of the time details and special instructions should be on the confirmation.

I've done this several times on loads that go from a stop at one distributor location to a second distributor of the same name. Simple inter-warehouse transfers.
Carpet One loads do this all the time. No big dealcrazyjack Thanks this. -
Should have a corrected BOL for this "added" product and if not in the original load plan it needs to be added and the driver paid for the extra freight since it is like a new "load" from point b to c.
I had that happen delivering batteries to a store. They wanted to load me with used batteries which were not on my load plan. They refused to offload me till I agreed to allow them to load the used batteries. I sat there for about 3 hours in CT waiting till dispatch figured out what to do. My clock ran out and I went to a truck stop. They finally send me a new load plan and paid me extra for it. -
Any way they can get away with free freight they will do it. Most drivers won't even check
