Hello All,
I have just started my research in trucking business. Is it easy to get contract once you set the business? As you see I know nothing about trucking business but would like to get into to get stability. I will not be driving the truck. How about local trucking business?

Get the business first,.. contracts, shippers, who ever you will be running for. Then buy the truck best suited for that work. Not the other way around.
The truck is a tool to get a job done,.. nothing more. Its there to make money. If it cant do the job for the work you need,.. then what good is it? Simply buying a truck and expecting the phone to ring off the hook with offers just doesnt happen. You have to sell your service, set a reputation, and build quality business relationships.
Thats how you will succeed in this business.
Also,.. bare in mind. If you plan to hire driver/s. You will need more than 1 truck. 1 truck will not support 2 families while remaining profitable and earning enough to support repairs and maintenance costs. Either drive the truck yourself,.. or start with 3 trucks. If 1 goes down,.. you have 2 others to mitigate expenses.
This is not a cheap business to get into. Not if you plan to do it right.

Thank you so much for your kind advice!!

Let's see. A cutthroat business where the assets depreciate far faster thsn the profit (?) They might generate. Quite nearly impossible to find qualified dtivers because the margins simply don't allow high enough pay/benefits to keep them. Brokers who expect 30-60 days on recievables. Constantly increasing regulatory screws making all aspects of the business tougher and tougher.
You would be better off getting Jared out of prison and starting another fast food joint goingOugigoug, ramblingman, icsheeple and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hahahaha!! Thanks for the input

We might sound cynical, but it really is a tough racket to break into. Very small profit margins and lots of people wanting to take away your business, your money, or both. But....it can be done. Be ready to give every last bit of your heart and soul, because if you don't you will not make it.
Dye Guardian, annr and Rocksma34 Thank this. -
