I was wondering why, with all the hundreds of thousands of panel trucks and trailers and trucks UPS has retired over the many years, I can't recall ever seeing a second-hand piece of UPS equipment on the road?

I guess they shred them? Where Do they go to die?

Also, who makes their equipment? They all seem to be rather "generic". Guess I've seen some trucks that look like Mack and Sterling and maybe Volvo, yet they don't have any badge on them?

Just curious. The thought occurred to me some time ago and I figured I'd ask here and see if someone knew, and if it weren't some sort of proprietary secret information and would not be a violation of some non-disclosure agreement.

For class 8 stuff, they use equipment from every manufacturer. I've seen Mack, Sterling, Volvo, KW, Peterbilt and International represented (oddly enough never have seen a Brown Freightliner). Their pup trailers are made to their spec, I have never seen a nametag and I've jockeyed a whole ton of their pups around. As for the "package cars", they also seem to be no-name, and lots of them look very very old.

I think there is a large hole out in Arizona somewhere that leads to the earth's core and where they are driven into never to be seen again. I've never seen any being towed or trailered anywhere (new or used)

Just seems they literally vanish off the face of the earth. Kinda spooky when you think about it.

UPS designed and had manufactured delivery trucks to their specs. They even have truck unloading zones that are the exact length of the delivery truck for that area. ( and who says money does not make the world go 'round?.)

Think I remember reading, a long time ago, that they're white washed and crushed/destroyed for the sake of their branding/image.

**Edit - @STexan beat me to it

UPS has my respect, all the way around from air to ground and to expedited truckload. They have their stuff together, overall.

When is the last time you saw a crashed or broke-down UPS truck?
