I've bought used securement a few times, but I'm not a fan. Brand New 4" straps are only $10 a piece and 2" ratchet straps are $15. Used tarps are usually patched crap and not made the way you'll want them. I have nothing against used chains and binders in good shape, or a headache rack either. I always order my tarps from tricity exactly the way I want them with d rings going both ways and plenty of them. My 10' drops are 6' drops when turned.
The journey begins - purchased a truck.

Used is ok, if you pay attention to what you are buying. Lots of guys buy ask new equipment and then hate having to do more than open doors so they sell there stuff that has been used only two times. Hell, I've got a stack of tarps in my garage I bought used that have never even been unrolled. But if you do buy used check it all over before using. Go over the chains link by link looking for bent or stretched links. With binders make sure the swivel point hasn't gotten egg shaped. And straps obviously looking for cuts, snags, and worn spots.
Edit to clarify, I'm not suggesting anyone buy ten year old stuff. I'm talking about buying stuff that has barely been used.blairandgretchen and icsheeple Thank this. -
I appreciate the detailed list.
Good point on the straps. When it comes to used straps I won't give much.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Icsheeple. That list is what I currently carry. You could get by on less to start. Then add to it as needed.
