Ok, here's the situation. I've been taking driver training to get my class 3. I just finished the second day of my driver training at a driving school. The problem is with my instructor. He's not a bad guy, in fact he likes to talk about common interests while instructing, but the problem is when I make a mistake with my shifting and downshifting, and RPM's he gets very hyper, not in an angry way, but he raises his voice and says things like "NO NO NO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" "WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT?" COME ON, GO! GOGOGOGOGO!

Now, I'm not a thin skinned wimp, but that kind of hyperness throws my concentration off to where I hardly know what I'm doing. It makes me nervous to where it actually makes my foot shake and I can barely get the throttle going. Does that sound like good instruction? I've already sunk a pile of money into lessons, and I'm not willing to spend any more money if the lessons continue under those conditions. I already called them back to cancel further lessons. Did I make the right move? Should I choose another driving school? Any advice on this? Thanks

    Power through.

Story: when I was in boot camp during weapons training I had a drill that would bang me on the steel helmet with a chamber rod as I was trying to shoot. BONG CLANG TANG!! I got nervous and couldnt hit the side of a barn. Long story short, talked to him and he stopped. I qualified expert shot and went on to join the Army shooting team at Ft Ord.

You'll be glad when you're trying to catch a gear going down a mountain or slowing to avoid something that you know how to work under pressure.

    You can do it.

I am a qualified instructor at a community college, and if I was his boss he would be out of a job unless change came along real quick like. But in your situation I would just respectfully say something and if he does not alter his instruction technique like any decent teacher should be able to do, talk to his boss and see what can be done to get someone else. Just say it is not working out and maybe another instructor can explain things better. Any professional worth their salt should be able to take that in stride. I wish you the best of luck that is not as easy situation to be in whatsoever.
