Yes you would be better with your own trailer the extra 7% would pay for your trailer payment and 25-50% of truck payment at landstar just by my math and seeing their load board since their drop and hook is very low

Was at IC training today in Charlotte...they had a guy (Gary) come in and talk extensively about this...they state they (schneidrer) is getting killed by out of place trailers and the 2300 plus IC's not updating them on NAL etc...they are going to "review" every move...by the 3 IC managers, in the last 2 days over 70 times an IC didnt follow workflow etc...just saying what there saying...also a interesting fact IC average 1.31 to the truck....

But the fact is that even by signing the agreement, we are not locked into anything. We are only bound by the provision which requires either party to give 15 days notice to terminate. And there is NOTHING in the new agreement that states, or even implies that we will be charged $250 for simply booking a load that is more than 100 miles away. It is that misinformation & gross misinterpretation that has all of this drama going. The $250 is specifically defined as a trailer repositioning fee, and it applies only when an IC decides to leave an empty trailer in the market they deliver freight to & acquire another empty trailer in a different market. It has NOTHING to do with the fact that you booked a load 100 miles away & chose to deadhead. Keep your empty from the last load if you're staying on duty, or drop it if you're going out of service & go back & get it when you return, and you can deadhead anywhere you choose, and you won't ever have to worry about a fee.

I routinely deadhead more than 100 miles. On my current load, I didn't pick up an empty at my last receiver. I bobtailed 95 miles home & took a 34 hour break. I then bobtailed 95 miles back to that receiver & picked up an empty, then deadheaded 185 miles to my next shipper. I didn't reposition a trailer. I continued where I left off. No $250 fee applies.

Yeah try in 15 days to find a new gig or have Schneider Finance approve you to go somewhere else...plus the notice is mailed you may not get it in time...a little worry some

They just put out the number...I was shocked at how low it was...the IC turn over is 20% per year company drivers over 100%...hmmmm. I am too new to know...but I know 1.31 wont cut it...with a 1000.00 a week payment.

Exactly. Some guys are doing really well, but I took a huge pay cut coming here. I've been here a month and I asked 2 weeks ago about turning my truck in. Hopefully it will get better.

For me the rates are just to low considering I use to book my own freight through brokers....and the payment and insurance is just too high for what I was use to. The way I run it seems like I would have to be out here 7 days a week, everyweek just to make it work....they keep saying run the northeast, but I really don't like this area, but I'm here this week, so we will see. I got spoiled at the last place, won't say where, but a small place where I book my own freight. Hope everything works out for you here.
