Not a M-F 8 to 5. Not even Fedex or ups local delivery

 

There are temp agencies that provide drivers to regional companies. Home every night and weekends off. Some companies allow you to work part time. Ie.. one week off one on etc..All as an entry level driver. Company I work for is one I am talking about. Also I don 't lift anything. Wish I did. Some drivers are speaking from their experience. Not the whole picture. Mine included! Get out there and work. I get more family time as otr regional than my other job as a bomb tech. Coming home in 3 weeks after 4 months out in korea. Gonna get me some home time for a week before I get back in the driver seat.

 

A housewife for 10 years? Trucking will be easy compared to that!
You might get a linehaul job with Reddaway or Old Dominion. They're drop&hook jobs. Probably be home every day with those jobs or almost every day.
Get your CDL and give it a try.

I would have to say that labor intensive is not an issue, but if you are anything like my wife, the time away from your children will be the killer. it is a good career if it is in your blood. My wife is one of the rare ones that it does not bother her me being away from home so long but I can see it in her eyes when I do get home how much she would rather me be home every night. I love it on the road and she knows that I am a wanderer at heart and it is what makes me happy and generously pays the bills. She likes driving a Mercedes and being able to have things she wants. But I do believe she would rather have less and be with me more.
