Breaking a contract

Tankers is the best pay I've received! If you want a good lead on a good tanker outfit that hires new drivers send me a pm. You would have to relocate though.

 

That's why they have contracts, its to protect their investment which is the training they give you other wise every man and his dog would be "using " companies to get free training, so that way if you choose to leave you are obligated to pay them for the training.

 

Here's some companies that hire new CDL grads. The websites may have "experience required" but ignore that and apply anyway. New grads just were hired by Trimac and Groendyke.

There's both positive and negative to that though lets focus on the positive first the fact that there are companies out there that are willing to give new inexperienced drivers a start is great, the negative downside is that they may be only doing that cause the company is losing so many drivers they have no choice and have to hire newbies, on the positive side again is even if they are dirty rotten scoundrels if you stick it out with them for say 8 - 12 months you will then have the driving experience and will be able to go to the more reputable companies like Swift and JB Hunt Gitda - done

 

Just Don't put your CDL address as the schools address or you will have issues leaving.. That is what swift does they try to make you use the company/school address so they can hold on your CDL

 

I think he said he was a resident of Missouri, there shouldn't be any issue with him keeping his home address. In fact, if you are a resident of another state - there is no issue. Missouri provides a temporary paper copy on which to drive, it is the same as a hard copy. Once a student returns to their home state - provided they don't have an issue with establishing residency; that paper copy along with the voided operator's license and some manners at the counter should be enough to transfer the CDL back to the home state. That and the necessary fees to transfer, but it has to be done before the paper copy expires.

 

Reading between the lines I am pretty sure the where and the who you are talking about. Ask for a copy of everything you signed at the (ahem) "school." Including the paper work authorizing your potential employer to deduct pay, I'm pretty sure that was the last part of the packet they put in front of you. Have an attorney look at the paperwork and discuss the situation with your future employer as part of any "tuition reimbursement."

The school and their finance company only cares that you pay them back. The company that they matched you up with has no loyalty or obligation to you until you sign that W-4 and they code you in as a driver. Then - there is a whole ball of entanglements.

That's why you need to read the fine print there will always be consequences if you break a contract after all their just protecting there investment if you don't like the rules you can choose the other road and pay for your own training think about it from their point of view image if there was no contract whats to stop people coming in getting the free training and then running off when they've gotten their CDL, the contract is there to stop that from happening, and you can bet your last $10 that's what did happen before they introduced these contracts.
