Cuz I wanted to. I have changed my mind now about a counter poise. With my 7ft SkipShooter and excellent SWR, I doubt there would be any noticeable improvement. I tried it with a bracket and didn't see any change in the SWR. My set up is pretty efficient as it stands. No more than I use it, I'm well satisfied.

Stainless Steels can and will corrode. See http://www.corrosionist.com/Materials_Stainless_Steel_Intro.htm

leonrabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
304 stainless should have no problem of corrosion in an atmosphere without chlorides.
304 stainless is resistant to atmospheric corrosion if chlorides are not present whereas 304 has a low resistance to corrosion in atmosphere with high concentration of chlorides, ie. marine atmosphere, although the minimal amount of atmospheric corrosion over a five year period wasn't enough to affect the electrical or Rf performance.
The brackets my buddy makes are made out of 316 stainless which is even more resistant to corrosion. -
Far more challenge on am. I talk skip almost on a daily basis on 28am from west Texas. I am, as you say, hooked. lol. Prince Albert in the diesel truck just got down.

Since starting this thread, I was on 495 and 90 in MA one day, talking to the southeast on 28AM for a good solid couple hours. I was rolling so I couldn't log contacts and don't remember who all I talked to but it was a blast.
