The company will cut your miles, the company wants to keep your truck, all lease purchases are bad, the company wants to make money off me, my dispatcher is greedy, I'm in the hole after working a week and taking a week off, they kept my escrow... Blah blah, blah.

Evidently most repeating this crap don't know how stupid this really sounds to someone who does understand business. #### right the company is in business to make money and I hope they make plenty of it so they stay in business, can offer raises, bonuses and new equipment for me to utilize as I take my piggyback ride off them, they don't want your truck or the risk and cost of ownership, they don't make money if you ain't moving, your $10 an hour dispatcher ain't taking your money because of greed, if you turn in a truck before your lease was up it WILL be cleaned up, repaired as needed, mattress replaced, decals or paint that didn't come on it removed etc and remarketed at your expense... and you most likely signed off on that in the contract too... Abandon the truck or tell them to pick it up at your house and you will pay for the extra cost of the recovery too.

It doesn't matter if you pay for stuff monthly or weekly or if you pay for it out of you checking account or uses the convenience a company provides and does it for you out of your settlements, the simple fact is that you are in the hole until your gross revenue is higher than your expenses. It's just more obvious in a lease purchase program.

Those of you that say buy trucks from a dealer and have a traditional loan... you do NOT own the truck... The finance company does until you've made that last payment.... AND if you have put money down on a truck you ARE in the hole and operating at a loss until you recover all of your deposit and paid all of your expenses most don't even realize it and they are further in the hole than a leased driver.

Some of us don't need or want the benefits offered to company drivers or even care if we make more than a company driver. As an Owner/lease operator it's about the freedom to say no to a load or area you

Me, quite frankly I'm looking forward to leasing a new truck every couple years, letting the dealer fix stuff under warranty, not breaking open the piggy bank, cashing in stocks or selling something for a down payment. I don't miss the 20 year old worn out Freightliner with 2.3 million miles on it that ate thousand dollar bills and parts faster than a 500 lb man can swallow a big mac and I'm not going to miss having to turn wrenches in my shop on my home time. I'm getting too old for that stuff but not ready to go back into retirement for the last time yet.

With all this emissions crapola and plastic stuff that breaks if you look at it wrong, I don't want "OWN" another wore out old truck unless it's an old Peterbilt registered as a private RV and has a 360" sleeper and a ball hitch to pull a fishing boat.

Agree with you. I somehow lucked out and am driving a for a really great owner, and a great company. Not too sure how I ended up here, definitely not complaining. I work on percentage, my boss busts his bu** finding the best loads for his drivers. His theory... the more $$$ I make, the more $$$ he makes.
Now if I could figure out how to alley dock the dang thing... everyone has a different way. My brain knows what to do, but sometimes it just don't work as advertised. :0)

Leased from a dealer is somewhat different then lease purchase from a carrier. I believe the op was bragging on lease purchases threw the carrier.

Some of us don't need or want the benefits offered to company drivers or even care if we make more than a company driver. As an Owner/lease operator it's about the freedom to say no to a load or area you hate running, to take time off when WE want too and as much time as WE want too.

I WILL NOT work as a company driver, I WILL NOT be told I have to take a load, I WILL NOT be told I can have only 1 day off for every 6 days I work and I do not want to break open my piggy bank and hand it to the bank for a down payment on a wore out used truck or a new one that will be wore out by the time it's paid off and with many of these lease purchase trucks the payment is often less than the payment of buying a truck because in a traditional lease you are paying the depreciation of the truck.

What is the difference between a $2500 a month payment or a $576.92 a week payment on the same truck leased to the same company.... WOW, it's a whopping 3/10ths of a penny a month, you still have insurance, plates etc... that a leased driver would and buy the averages you'll be close to spending the same amount for repairs and tires over time.

So you see a "more money" in your settlement than a leased driver. Big whoop dee doo... You just haven't given you bank, insurance company, maintenance fund or your mechanic their share of you bigger settlement yet and are in fact still in the hole until you do.

Those of you that assume a driver that has a 590 credit score couldn't run a business don't know if they are bouncing checks at Dominos Pizza and Walmart, if an Ex wife stole 2 books of blank checks and went on a spending spree in Europe and did't find out until your bank all of a sudden was overdrawn and checks bouncing all over the world 2 months after she left or were medically retired from the military, unable to work and lost 2/3rds of your pay and had to file bankruptcy while the VA took 19 months to make a decision... Yea, the last 2 actually happened to me and yes I have owned and leased several trucks over the last 28 years and ran them successfully even though my credit score got shot to sheet twice with nothing that could be done about either situation but pick up the pieces and start over.

I think you're better off being a company driver than leasing an old wore out truck.
