My trainers exact words "If you grind my gears, curb my steers, get mud in the sleeper, or don't ask the question, no matter how stupid your green ### thinks it is, Ill smack you with this here clipboard...The day I teach you to blindside, Ill buy you a steak."

Needless to say...I got smacked with the #### clipboard. I also got my steak. That is the kind of trainer you want.

My trainer drove the first day so I had a chance to settle in and get comfortable. By the next morning I couldn't wait to get behind the wheel.

Naw... you skipped a few. You didn't roll the truck, drop a trailer or kill any nuns.

    So it wasn't too bad.

Any day you don't hit somthing or get hit is a pretty good day.

It sounds like your trainer is a pice of work. I gess your just going to have to figure it out, but it does get better so hang in there.

    Thanks guys.
I'm in a training school right now so there's no load, so no pressure there. Tomorrow during my instruction I am going to pull over if I feel my brain is giving up on me, take a breath and keep driving. Also I found out tomorrow they are changing up the instructors for all the students. So I'll see how I do tomorrow after three more hours of mixing cake batter.
I'll repost about what happens next, haha.

He seems a little abusive. He sounds like my first trainer when I first started hauling fuel. This guy was mad at the world, and would seem to set me up to fail. In fact, he threw me under the bus multiple times and that job didn't work out in the end.

I think, what you are experiencing, is a hallmark trait of a bad or very inexperienced trainer.

Start documenting his behavior and when you have to complain to HR, do it in writing by e-mail so you have a time stamp and proof you sent it. At this very moment, before you drive another mile, you need to form a clear and concise boundary of what you will simply document, and what you will escalate to formal complaint status.

You need to be very firm. Tell him you are nervous, and nervous for all of "our " safety. Tell him straight that you cannot learn new information when you sense he is getting angry. Tell him you cannot safely operate this death trap piece of machinery while worrying about his anger. It's time to carefully, and professionally, draw your lines in the sand with this guy.

My trainer was a good guy, and did answer all questions and explain things.

BUT, when I was in the driver seat... He was a real @$$hole.

Like that one football coach every one hated in highschool. A real jekle and Hyde...

He was hard on me and pushed me out of my comfort zone. At the time, I hated it... And it forced me to make mistakes, big mistakes. Mistakes that were inches away from disaster.

The thing is.... I can now enjoy this career in the comfort of knowing, I will NEVER repeat those mistakes!!

Every day is different,on the road, some days I want to park the truck, and take a flight home.
Other days,I wake up,perfectly rested, have my coffee and smoke, sun is shining, and Im rolling down the road in heaven.
You have to live one day at a time, cant worry about yesterday...or tommorrow.
