Obviously, I don't know your financial obligations at home ( family, hookers, gambling, booze,Pokemon cards, Ebay addiction, race car parts ) $6,000 Should be a non effort to pay off within 18 months with a decent company with Zero contract. Glad you mentioned it, Avoided that nonsense recruitment tool out of CDL school and never regretted it.
payed mine off ($8200) off within 6 months and no company ever dictated my ways. I like to see your future in the business as easy, with no tuition attachment contract also.

I've worked for both usx and Abilene.
With usx, I was just a number, and a very low number on the totem pole at that. Very seldom did I get over 1800 miles a week. Pretty decent training experience there. I lucked out. A friend of mine, not so lucky and she ended up just not trucking at all. Ok equipment.
With Abilene, the miles are there. Freight is always moving. FL runs, too. Sometimes a wait to get out depending on how many drivers are down there. Our customer base is nice. 5 major accounts. Training period I believe is 6 months with different trainers, although I can't say for sure because I didn't have to do that. The thread mentioned before has a lot of that in it. Nice equipment. Volvos, KWs, freightliners, Macks. All automatic transmission, fridge, inverters, hook up for tv, microwave. Johnboy is the person to get with on the training aspect. He is one of the trainers. Pay is every 2 weeks.Barbee's Girl and TruckDuo Thank this. -
Thanks for all the comments

Hello, was reading your post...Boyfriend and I are wanting to team, I start class June 9th. Have got the trucking companies narrowed down to US Express and PTL.... any more information you can give me on US Express would be appreciated! (what equipment is on the trucks? APU's, Inverter's, GPS, Automatics?) Drop and hook? No touch Freight? Etc....
thanks in advanced! -
yeah, well, USX is NOT a good company to make a living that is worth the sacrifices you make as a driver. I was there for 7 years and, while it was ok in the beginning, USX ruined it by firing off the older management and hiring a bunch of brainless, ruthless puppets. I work for Danny Herman now and life couldn't be any better unless I won the lottery! At least Danny doesn't hand the miles to Norfolk Southern and leave his drivers sitting and starving and trying to explain to their wives why he didn't make a good check and was gone for so long.
TruckDuo Thanks this.
