Being newer to the IC side I thought I was just having a few off weeks. Then I started seeing .70 a mile loads. Glad it's not just me, I thought I was doing something wrong.
I guess as long as I can stay in the green through these crappy months I should be all set.
Fingers crossed.
Don't do it!!!

since I started in March the rates were on a steady decline, slowly...there are still good loads that pop up, but they are gone in one second....literally. I've been lucky this week, and this will be the first week in 5 that I will get what I consider to be a good paycheck. It's been very frustrating, sni grew this program to quick. That is one of the problems other then freight just being cheap. I'm still happy, just been working a lot harder...

It's everywhere man, sucking here.. Mercer, Landstar. O/O section is complaining on this forum.
My friend at Landstar last I spoke to him told me he was ready to sell his truck, can't even run for $1.30 all miles where 6-7 months ago he was above $1.70. We were comparing rates and he showed me loads from Ohio to Virginia paying $1.20-$1.35 to the truck.
It's not like we're being shafted cause if we were I'd leave but it's actually worse than cause trucking is just bad now, less loads per truck and shippers don't want to pay.
Oh well guess that just means I'll have to do more short loads in the Northeast to make up for it

Just checked out the stats and reports on dat. Looks to be temporary for the most part. It just looks like alot of lanes that are normally good have had a lower demand and rates for the past few weeks. That and the low fuel costs. Kills me that shippers and brokers haggle using fuel as a leverage point. Insane.

Please don't tell me Schneider is starting to shaft not only company, but Choice drivers too. This thread is scaring me, as it would mean I'm chasing a not dead, but albeit dying horse! I have to constantly remind myself daily why I joined Schneider, as being a company driver vs Choice driver is Night vs Day.
If I had to take a guess, I would assume what you guys are experiencing is freight market manipulation somehow... as being a freight broker many, many years ago, there is just totally too much freight out there and not enough drivers, and it's only getting worse every decade.
That, or Schneider just had an influx of new students graduate, and dispatched all the best paying freight to our newest drivers, which is more than likely the what has actually happened. -
It's SNI manipulating the load board and keeping what's best for company unless they can't cover it then it gets dropped on load board at last minute.

Are you all still making at least 500 bucks a week? Better than 300 every two weeks at McDonalds.. though I guess it's more dangerous out there on the road for that sort of pay.

This time of year is usually the best paying Walmart freight, and Walmart stocks have really been tanking lately (went down 10% in a short period recently).
You can complain all you want about Schneider manipulating the load board, but the fact is the open market sets the rates. Not happy with Schneider? Then leave. Where to though? It was nice to get fat and happy when money was just flowing in with little to no effort. Did anyone really think that was permanent?gentleroger, drvrtech77 and freightwipper Thank this. -
Wonder if it has to do with a lot of people suddenly turning to truck driving thinking they can earn good money? Would you recommend another company besides Schneider? Werner?
