Was just over your way today. Saw a billboard stating that DOT (not the D.O.T.) is now training folks to get their CDL. Saw it on I-70 east of Indy I believe. I think they do mainly refer. Not the best gig. But could get your foot in the door. Just an option.
Also, not sure when it takes effect (may have already), you may need to take the Ohio human trafficing training. Something the idiots decided to require for all new CDL grads and anyone renewing their CDL in Ohio.SHOJim Thanks this. -
Swift provies good training but the drawback is they have driver facing cameras and sound monitoring equipment in the trucks. I don't think they provide meals during training.
Try these:
Earl Henderson Trucking - provides single occupancy hotel room and meals plus a guaranteed minimum weekly paycheck. Also give you $100.00 cash every week during school.
Dutch Maid in Willard, Ohio
Kalmbach Feeds in Sandusky, OH -
I'd put Henderson first choice because they have guaranteed minimum paycheck, but you can make much more.
If all else fails, go with Swift. Their training is excellent and you can leave when you want.Sneakerfix Thanks this. -
I would go down to the dmv in person and ask to take the tanker written test....if you already have your cdl permit. They can give you a printout that you passed the test, whether it is added to your license now or later when you complete your driving test. -
Have you considered a private school? Many, if not most, companies will reimburse you for your training after you are hired on. In your situation, I would imagine it would be beneficial to get hired with your CDL already in hand or while you are in a private school. Good private schools help with job placement, and will help you get your foot in the door.
