I pulled into Walmart empty last night and when I went to leave I had no clutch or clutch brake. I ended up shutting the engine off, starting it in second and floating the gears all the way to a truckstop.
I'm going to head home during the night and have my mechanic fix it but am curious what it could be.
I'm guessing it's not anything to do with the linkage. I have full pressure on the pedal like my clutch is fine. I think if it was anything to do with the linkage I wouldn't have any pressure on the pedal at all? I just talked to my mechanic and he thinks it's probably the throwout bearing?

That happened to me once, it was a broken spring in the pressure plate. Clutch wouldn't release exactly as you said. Only solution for that is new clutch unfortunately.flood, BigTennOTR, BoxCarKidd and 1 other person Thank this.

Hi Skate-board, didn't you just have clutch problems not too long ago? I don't know about a throw out bearing, I've never had one do that. It sounds like a clutch disc spring broke. Happened to me several times ( until I got a "severe duty" disc with no springs) The only other thing would be a pilot bearing in the flywheel. You'll still have a pedal, but the bearing is seized and the transmission shaft is still turning. Good luck.
chopper103in and BoxCarKidd Thank this. -
Yup. Same happened to me at a fuel stop. Same symptoms, same defect.BigTennOTR, BoxCarKidd and Ozdriver Thank this.

When it happened to me I rang my transmission guy and he said 100% it will be a broken spring and he was right. Truck is still drivable which is the main thing.

No, I didn't have a clutch problem. Years ago I had my clutched replaced. I recently posted about that taking around 4 hours to replace with 3 guys in a pit and $2,500

I'm in Hubbard, OH at the Flying J and will head out tonight back to NH. Just a few toll stops but other then that it will be smooth sailing.....I HOPE!!!
BigTennOTR Thanks this. -
You may even find the clutch sometimes works, that's what happened to me anyway and I drove 450 miles back to base loaded.BigTennOTR Thanks this.

That has actually happened in the last few months!!!! I had no clutch brake then all of a sudden it was back again.

If it's not one thing it's another. Just had a ton of trailer work done. My brakes were dragging. Turned out to be the relay valve like @Cat sdp pointed out. New air tanks, 2 drums and 2 brake kits. That resulted in an IFTA quarter with 3.8mpg. Then pneumonia that kicked my ### for 12 days a few weeks ago.
