Opps. I just noticed your from Tn. That probably doesn't apply. Find a logging or gravel operation and work your way in. Pretty much everybody I know started the old fashioned way changing tires and greasing trucks before they got a chance to drive one.

No where to park after 5 p.m.
Roads tore all to bits and pieces.
    Jerks everywhere.
    Tolls.
    Traffic jams.
    No idle laws.
Towns, roads, and streets unfriendly towards truckers.

Why in the world would you want to run the north east?

George Hildebrandt out of Hudson NY. HO-RO is out of New Jersey. Look at Cardinal Logistics. They have contracts with Home Depot and you will be home daily. The problem is, many smaller Northeast carriers haul building materials and that can get really slow in the winter. Put in applications at O&G and Tilcon too. That's more machinery but they are all over the Northeast.

O&G and tilcon are mostly construction. Takes a lot of time in to be a machinery hauler there.

I think Hildebrandt has a yard in central CT now also, not positive.
O&G does dumps too. not sure if they have mixers also or if that's a neighbor of theirs.

Melton has drivers that practically live up there, I'm from Texas and spent the better part of 2 months running all over up there

Hildebrandt, Tipton (think that's the name...lots of blue/gray Sterlings), Gypsum Express. HO-RO is, or was, a Teamsters shop, if that makes any difference to you. I was on with TMC, had a good run with them, would recommend to a novice to get some experience, despite all the badmouthing they usually come in for.
