Chinese buying Texas oil fields.

    You should see what they do up here in Canada. We have something called a Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) program. Basically they bring in temporary labour by the boatload from all over the world. Even in slower times like now they seem to make their way over here, but in smaller numbers. Some companies take advantage of this program by #### canning most of their staff and exploiting TFW's by paying them a fraction of what they'd have paid their regular staff.

    Yes, they're building light houses on some and runways, ports, villages on some. They've already built a school on one and moving families there.
    Philippines started the whole mess when they took a Navy ship the USA gave them and ran it aground on a reef on purpose then called it a military base. It's an old LST the US Navy used in Vietnam.

    A Chinese holding company already owns a bunch of leases in East Texas, in the Woodbine field, around North Zulch. And we hauled the oil to a barge-loading facility.

    Whoever built those leases did less than a half-*** job. I hated pulling from them.

    Although I don't think it's right. They are doing this to secure sole fishing rights??

    My post wasnt about south China Sea. I don't like Americans being displaced by cheaper foreign labor. Like with Disney bringing in Indians firing Americans. Is Disney losing money? No. The middle class is being squeezed, which I don't like.

    You mentioned the South China Sea is why I replied to it.
    As for cheaper labor, America brings in 10,000 highly educated Indians and Chinese per year because they work for cheap. I personally know one that is paid $50K per year while her American counterparts doing the same job are paid $100K plus $40 per day per diem plus many other job related expenses that puts them in the $200K range.
    This will not change because Americans continue to vote for the same Dems & Repubs decade after decade. The only thing that changes is their names.

    Chinese are drilling in gulf, gulf of Mexico. That is what I was referring to. The south China Sea thing. US sails with in 12 miles of their new islands. US doesn't recognize 12 mile rule for man made islands, per international rules. Could be a powder keg.

    Foreign labor, yeah I don't see it changing either. Why? You can always bribe people by contributing to campaign funds. I just don't like it.

    America does that all the time all over the world. Did it in Vietnam with the USS Maddox and USS Turner Joy then invaded claiming US ships were fired on. My friends on those two ships said it didn't happen. I was on a frigate doing the same thing in Libya when Gaddafi was still alive; many years before he was killed. We were so close to land people on the beaches were waving to us as we stupidly fired into the air trying to get Gaddafi to take the bait, which he didn't. Anything for oil.

    Well the Chinese are buying up everything all over the world.
    They are smart , hardworking , astute and organised.
    If you want to compete you had better be at the top of your game.
    Sure they have serious issues but they are not to proud to change and adapt.
    I am an African but have traveled quite a bit in in the US and in China a few times.
    Complacency and I cant blame Americans as its a good life puts Americans at the risk of stagnation while China is flying.
    I may feel differently in a couple of weeks but I find China fascinating.
