Well, its been a while since I have been on the forum...so I am in hammond, la tonight and figured I would do an update...its working out pretty well with my new company...hauling windows out of dallas, normally headed for florida, carolinas, gergia, but have went up to branson, kc, and st louis, as well as, run south to the border...usually out 4 to 5 days, then back home for 2 to 3 days...many times when running local texas I get to b home a few nights a week...I am making more and working less than when I was otr...havent ran out of hours, or had any trouble finding parking....I do have to unload the windows, but get paid for it, and I like the workout...I average 1800 to 2700 miles a week and the stops vary...this week I left tuesday for slidell, la and on way back to dallas to pick up a local friday run then will be off....would normally head back out early monday morning but wife is having knee replacement so may be home longer than usual...everything considered, I love it....fits my lifestyle, gets me the pay I want to make, and I have lost 15 pounds in 2 1/2 months....anyway, you all. Be safe, happy trails, and maybe I will run into some of you out there on I10 and I20...
Life is sweet when you love your job...

Thats a fine route for the winter time.... I will be joining you as i pretty much stop going above I40 here shortly; too many years of that mess and it SEEMS like the newer drivers get worse and accidents more frequent.
negativecold13 and MattyB6T Thank this. -
Just switched recently also and been a great change! Hope things stay good out there

Glad to hear that!....With so much nonsense out there, hearing good news is great....Two of the best hauling jobs I ever had was driving OTR for companies (not for hire) that hauled their own products....Alas, both went out in the 90's though, stay safe out there and all the best...
G13Tomcat Thanks this. -

Just needed a change. Was getting really frustrated with the good week, bad week routine....even my short weeks are better thanwheni was otr hauling reefer...but theres a story coming about changing my cdl over....once I see how it plays out I will write about it so others can be informed...bottom line is Texas goes back 15 years into your driving record and if you have two accidents or incidents in a 3 year period they can suspend your cdl....more later on that....
