Can anyone tell me what Big Trucking Companies have Terminals in eastern Virginia? What about drop yards? In researching companies we can team for, most want you to live within 150 miles of a terminal. The only one I have found thus far is Swift in Richmond. We are basically planning on living out of the truck, but our college age daughter will be here in an apartment that we are storing our stuff in and paying for. It would be nice to come by and check on her and get our bills to pay.

Conway in Chester. Fleetmaster in Williamsburg, CCC in West Point. J.B. Hunt in Winchester. There's a lot more but I don't remember them of the top of my head. Do some searching on the net and you should find some good info

I also see many different companies going into and out of the Anheuser Busch brewery in Williamsburg. Hope that helps.

We don't have any experience yet. We have two years until our munchkin graduates from high school. We have 3 down and this one to go, then we are going truck driving. If we didn't have her, we wouldn't get an apartment at all, but we have to get her through school and she wants to stay in the area. Our oldest daughter lives in Vegas with her husband and 22 month old and they have one on the way, we could take home time with them for a couple of days, and my in laws live in Salt Lake City, so that is another place, and all of my family is here in Hampton Roads, VA.
Thanks to everyone that posts and guides us in our later in life change in careers!
