This isn't exactly about driving a truck but this is my best place for feed back. Here is the skinny. Trying to start a family and wife wouldn't make it without me home. I applied to a local bus driving company in California. Got all the pre-employment done. Go in for drug test + physical 8-9 days ago. A few days pass and I get no call, so I call leave messages, can't get in touch with anybody.
I take vyvanse for adhd. I figure no big deal the testing company will get a hold of me and check it out. As I told the physical examiner all about it and brought in a note that I was good to go with no restrictions. Wrong, too much time has passed so I start leaving more messages. Finally today they escalate up and the supervisor, in turn had someone from the other state in the company call me and ask to send in my prescription. I sent it in today and they said the medical examiner marked the test as false positive. I supposed they assumed I was rolling the dice and lost and that I wouldn't be pursuing this any further.
My problem is, I missed their training class because of this and now I'll have to wait for another class to fill up. They said I was hired as long as I passed physical+test. Also the employer cannot discriminate against mental or physical disabilities by contract. I'm guessing I'm not going to get any hours for a while.
My QUESTION. Do I have any recourse on this? Is it my fault for not drilling how the lab would be handling false positives while at the dot physician? Is it legit that the staff and some people I know , now know I have a condition? Is this something I just take on the chin and keep on moving? Again any feed back is appreciated.
EDIT : The medical examiner marked the test from positive to "OK".
Any suggestions, greatly appreciated.

Yep move on.
If not who or what would you do? Its not like you worked for them for say 5 or 10 years and trying to keep your job.
I drive with a medical waiver that was transferred from another state or so I thought. After working for 4 months I was told stop driving by the state and get their waiver. Who was I going to bit** to the state because they said yes at first then no? Remember they are the ones granting you a license (or job) to drive. Piss them off and you got no license (job).
Good luck

Dude, if you have mental disabilities you have no business driving a horse cart, let alone a bus full of people...

Yep, ADHD medications are used as a babysitter by many parents when both parents work or don't want to be disturbed while surfing the internet.Big Don and Straight Stacks Thank this.

Big Pharma has admitted they created ADHD as a means to prescribe children amphetamines, realizing that addiction is a life long struggle and it's easier to hook the young. When a child is jonesing for a hit, they actually DO act out more and have difficulty concentrating, as would we all.
I'm not that old (31) and all the symptoms associated with ADHD were alleviated in my childhood through hours of sports, outdoor play, meat and veggies (no restaurants or sugary stuff in the house except Halloween, Christmas and Easter). The only kids i knew who took meds for "hyperactivity" sat inside playing Nintendo and popping pills. They still do, 20 years later.joshuasmith8169, Straight Stacks and Chinatown Thank this. -
