    Man its all good. Good to see more sport bike riders also driving big trucks.

    Riding a fast bike and having a cdl is like gasoline and fire. Ha!

    I have everything done. Permit transferred. Testing and reviews done. Sim final left and waiting on a trainer, praying for a laid back knowledgeable one lol.

    Thank you.

    Sim is done passed final and all my backing. So now I wait... ID tomorrow might run to millennium after my 10am to 1pm sim. Who knows.

    I'm still super nervous about getting on an actual truck. My skip shifting is OK not great and I want it to be great.

    Shifting on the Sims and real life are totally different, so don't get worked up about it. Just like shifting bob tailing and under 80,000 is totally different. Main thing is finding the sweet spot to shift at (1200 RPM) and then NOT PRESSING THE CLUTCH ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOORBOARDS. Which engages the clutch brake. Practice that on shifting, 3-4 inches depression MAX

    Thanks highway,

    Yeah I think I am pretty good on keeping the clutch short smooth "jabs". I've kept the low end 1-5 1000 to 1100 and 1200 to 1300 on the top end. Is 1200 OK for the low end too?

    I will tell you highway is dead on. I smoked the simulator but the truck I struggled with ( you will see my accounting of it on my 10/12 thread). Give yourself the space to learn and not overthink it. I will let highway correct but I do my lows at about 1 k highs about 1200. I downshift between 1k and 800 except for 10 to 9 which I found 52 mph or just under 1100 is my sweet spot.

    Think Adams family theme for lows that snap snap is about the speed and for highs it is more like snap . Snap when up shifting in the tractor (freight liner).

    Gotcha they were saying focus on the speedo ...35 8, 25 7th gear etc for downshifts. Should I focus on the revs more on downshift?

    Right now I'll do 55 cruising, slow to 45, clutch, 1500 RPM Rev clutch and shift into 9th. Etc.

    I'm really good on the upshift, it's gotten quick and smooth but like u said I'm sure it will be much different in the truck.

    This pretty much says it all. I never shift/shifted over 11500 unless I was going up a hill then that sucker was wound up as you loose a lot no matter how fast you are.

    1500 rpm is way too high. Please check out the rpm ratio I posted. Also I think as doing the speed thing until two things happened. First I lost points on my final for it and my psd instructor told me I was too high. When I told him I was watching speed he told me two things. 1 shifting is about rpm's and moving properly (This will make sense very soon). 2 Speed is a great way to remember or regroups yourself on what gear you should be in when you get lost.

    He said every student gets lost when they don't have it in the right gear or grind and don't find. Example I was coming to a toll booth. I downshifted like a Mack daddy and went from 6th down to fifth but that son of a gun would go in gear. I was at 15 mph and never needed to drop to fifth. I remembered what he said and bang into 7th and idled through.
